Family or domestic violence occurs not only in workers’ homes but also sometimes the workplace. When, say, a worker’s ex-husband shows up at her place of employment, she may be in danger’and so may be her co-workers. Thus, many jurisdictions are requiring or recommending that employers take steps to help workers suffering domestic violence and to address such violence when it impacts the workplace.
HOW TO USE THIS TOOL
Adapt this Model Family Violence Policy for your jurisdiction’s OHS laws, OHS program and relevant HR policies and programs. Ensure that all employees, including both workers and supervisors are trained on it.
