Sex Harassment Complainant Fined for Leaking Case Details to Media

What should be the penalty for a female paramedic who violated BC Human Right Tribunal confidentiality rules by deliberately leaking details of her sex harassment complaint to the media’ Dismiss the case, urged her employer; too harsh, said the Tribunal. Issue a formal order reminding her of her confidentiality duties, urged the paramedic’s lawyers; too lenient said the Tribunal. The appropriate remedy was to make her pay the costs the employer incurred as a result of the breach, which the Tribunal set at $1,000, as opposed to the $10,000 the employer argued for [Smith v.
