A worker was in the process of inflating a new 16-inch tire on a 16.5 inch rim when the tire exploded. The tire/rim struck the worker in the head, causing a serious injury. A company pleaded guilty to an OHS violation for the incident. The court fined it $5,000 and ordered it to pay $97,750 to the Alberta Motor Transport Association for the development of an entry level shop safety urse [Kavanaugh Investments Ltd., Govt.
