Related Companies Penalized $975,000 for PCB and Other Violations

An investigation conducted by ECCC showed that a group of related companies didn’t follow environmental protection compliance orders and didn’t meet obligations related to the use, storage and disposal of electrical equipment containing PCBs. They also failed to submit reports on the use and storage of its electrical equipment to the Department. Tidan Inc. and seven associated companies pleaded guilty to 52 charges under CEPA and the PCB Regulations. The court ordered them to pay $975,000 to the Environmental Damages fund, publish an article on the facts surrounding their violations, develop procedures to manage their contaminated electrical equipment for all of their buildings and provide training for their managers and staff [The Tidan Group, Federal Govt.
