Obstruction and Other Violations Cost Roofing Company $40,000

In response to a complaint, an MOL inspector attended the site of a residential re-roofing project, where he saw several workers on the roof without fall protection, hardhats or safety boots. In addition, roofing company workers fled the worksite during the investigation, and the company failed to respond to correspondence and the inspector’s direction. Following a trial, the company was convicted of obstructing an MOL inspector in the performance of duty under the OHS Act and lack of fall protection, protective headgear and protective footwear.
