A 28-year-old man died on Feb. 19 at Universit de Montral after being found in critical condition underneath one of the school’s escalators. He later died from his injuries. The province’s workplace safety commission said the worker was repairing the escalator at the time. A few days later, a 29-year-old worker was found unconscious and pinned under a hydraulic device while performing maintenance on the unit. He died in the hospital. Police and the workplace safety authorities are investigating these incidents.
