After an investigation by the WSCC into events that occurred July 2, 2011 in Iqaluit, a construction company was charged with eight violations of the Safety Act, including failing to:
- Provide employees with emergency evacuation procedures and safe means of communicating with authorities
- Ensure instruction of each worker in safe practices for their duties
- Develop a written code of practice for work in confined spaces [Nunavut Construction Ltd., July 20, 2012].
