Construction Company Charged with Eight Safety Violations

After an investigation by the WSCC into events that occurred July 2, 2011 in Iqaluit, a construction company was charged with eight violations of the Safety Act, including failing to:

  • Provide employees with emergency evacuation procedures and safe means of communicating with authorities
  • Ensure instruction of each worker in safe practices for their duties
  • Develop a written code of practice for work in confined spaces [Nunavut Construction Ltd., July 20, 2012].
