Inadequate workplace lighting can conceal safety hazards, make it hard for workers to do their jobs safely and efficiently and cause eye strain and headaches. That’s why the OHS regulations require employers to ensure workplaces are adequately lit.
HOW TO USE THE TOOL
Use this checklist, which is based on one created by CCOHS, to conduct a lighting inspection of your workplace. Make sure to take appropriate steps to address any lighting issues you identify, such as glare, shadows and dimly lit stairwells. You may also need to follow-up this initial inspection with a full survey that includes measuring the lighting in various parts of the workplace.
