BENEFITS

One of the key components of WHMIS is the Safety Data Sheet or SDS, which is intended to give workers the key information they need about a particular controlled product, such as what hazards it poses, the PPE necessary for working with the product and the measures to be taken in the event of an emergency. WHMIS laws require SDSs to contain certain information under nine headings to be compliant. And suppliers can’t sell a controlled product for use in a workplace in Canada unless they give the buyer a compliant SDS.
