A worker was injured in an explosion and fire at a Syncrude Canada oilsands site. The worker was taken to the hospital and was in serious but stable condition. The province issued an air quality alert for the Fort McKay area, warning that the fire and smoke could affect health and visibility. It advised residents to stay inside with doors and windows closed, and to keep outdoor activity to a minimum.
