An airport security agent doing a baggage screening activates the silent alarm after noticing a baton in a passenger’s bag. Only after the police arrive does the passenger reveal herself to be a Canadian Border Services Agency traveling on business. She’s allowed to proceed but is still seething and convinced she was held up merely because she’s black. But the hearing officer rejects her racial discrimination complaint finding that the agent was just doing his job and that the passenger wasn’t detained because of her race but because she didn’t reveal that she was a CBSA Officer.
