Inn & Project Manager Charged in Death of 12-Year-Old Boy

Nova Scotia’s Labour Department has charged an inn and project manager after a 12-year-old boy was run over by a boom truck being used in the inn’s renovation. The inn was charged with failing to take every reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of people at the workplace and failing to take adequate precautions to ensure pedestrian safety. The project manager was charged with failing to take reasonable precautions to ensure health and safety at or near the project. A third person who wasn’t named by officials was also charged but hasn’t been served notice yet [5823 NWT Ltd. and Darren MacPhee, Feb. 13, 2012].
