There is no stated maximum height in either the Ontario OHS Regulations or MOL guidelines. Section 45(b) of the OHS Regs. for Industrial Establishments just says that materials must be stored so that they won’t “tip, collapse or fall” and in a way that allows for safe removal or withdrawal. It’s up to the parties to make a determination of what constitutes a safe stacking height.
Exception: Section 40 of the OHS Regs. for Const Projects specify that materials may not be stacked closer than 1.8 metres from the opening or open edge of a roof (unless it’s in a building or fully enclosed area used solely for material storage and distribution).
