Number of First Aiders

If the office building we’re located at has First Aid trained Security guards in the building, does that count towards our number of first aiders required by legislation’  I think the intent is really to have a first aider in our office, located near the first aid kit, but I was asked this question, so thought I would post it here.  I think the challenge is having enough first aiders when there aren’t very many people in our offices.

I believe so but I’ll look it up just to be sure. Just need to know: a. Your jurisdiction; b. Number of workers; and c. Distance to nearest hospital.

Thanks Glenn. Sorry for the delay getting back to you. The jurisdiction is B.C., we’re low risk work type, and we’re within 20 minutes of a hospital. We typically have 6-7 people in the office once a week. Then once a month there is a team lunch event, where there’s about 30 people in attendance.

Also, the Security guards are not directly in our office space, they would be in the building lobby or elsewhere.
