Hi, looking for advise.
Have 6 warehouses that are heated in the fall, winter, spring. They are primarily storage warehouses with minimal to moderate amount of work performed all year around. We have your standard 15 min supply eye wash station located adjacent the primary work area in each building. The warehouses are usually kept at a comfortable 10-14 degrees C. during the days, and at night may dip down to 8 – 12 degrees C.
The 2014 (R2020) ANSI standard recommends that the water should be “tepid” and defines this temperature as being between 16-38°C (60-100°F). In the summer this is not an issue. As Fall sets in, we start noticing that drop in temperature.I have looked for heating units for the standard 15 min (stand alone) units. ~~2000$ Canadian.
I am wondering if anyone knows of a external heating unit that is at least under 1000$.If there are any avid reptile keepers reading, I know there are small (400w, maybe less) heating pads that can be applied to the outside of an aquarium. The stick on and used radiant heat to slightly warm the enclosure. I am wondering if that would work with the stand alone eye wash stations??
Thanks for any and all feedback.
Hello! In terms of the external heating unit, that sounds like more of a business expense than a compliance question. With a quick Google search I was able to find some heating units from ULINE Canada and Global Industrial under $1,000, but I recommend going with the best option that will keep your eye wash station at the safest temperatures year-round. It is much less costly to invest in more expensive appliances and products that ensure you are fully complying with health and safety requirements in the workplace rather than putting your workers at risk and potentially facing a hefty lawsuit later on in your operations.
Aquarium heating pads are a bit out of my realm of expertise, but I have left comments open in case anyone can help you out with your question. I hope this helped!
