As a federal employer, we follow the COHSR (Section 14.23-14.24) with respect to Forklifts / Lift Trucks.  We have offices in NS, NL, ON, and QC. Each province has different requirements. Our staff has a requirement to be able to move within these provinces and operate the forklifts. Would having a corporate standard for minimum training/certification be the best way to manage this’ For most of our offices, we are following a 3 year recertification period (full 1-day certification course). I understand this is an industry-standard / best practice but not required in any of the provincial or federal regulations.  The CSA B335 recommends a 3-year refresher frequency but leaves it up to the individual jurisdiction to decide. Would following the B335 be a better option than just a corporate standard for minimum training’
Where provinces recognize the B335 and define a Competent Person but leave out refresher training, what would be the recommended or suggested best practice for refresher training?

I’m a bit confused. It sounds like the corporate standard and B335 standard are both 3 years. In either case, following the more stringent standard is the safer approach.
Following B335 would be mandatory in provinces whose OHS laws incorporate the standard by reference. In other jurisdictions, it would be best practice to the extent the OHS regulation requires 4 years or more, or doesn’t address the issue at all. Hope that helps. Glenn
