Is the employer required to provide the fire extinguisher training on a yearly or on a biennial basis’ We are federally regulated.

The Canada Labour Code OHS Regs and National Canada Fire Code both require training workers in use of portable fire extinguishers but neither specifies how often training must be provided. As a matter of Best Practice based on requirements of other jurisdictions, including US OSHA, training should be provided as part of initial orientation and at least once a year thereafter. Once every 2 years is probably not enough, IMHO.
