Fall Protection Equipment Inspection Checklist #2

BENEFITS
Falls are one of the leading causes of workplace injury in Canada, especially in the construction industry. That’s why the OHS laws require employers to protect workers from falls from heights. One way to fulfill this duty is through the use of fall protection equipment, such as fall restraint systems and fall arrest harnesses. But such equipment must be in good working condition to protect workers adequately.

HOW TO USE THE TOOL

Fall protection equipment should be inspected by ‘competent’ workers, who can use this checklist to ensure that this equipment is in good condition and safe to use. Adapt the checklist for the fall protection equipment in your workplace, the requirements of the OHS laws in your jurisdiction and the requirements or recommendations from the equipment’s manufacturer.
