Construction Company Fined $7,000 for Moving Scaffolding with People on It

A construction company owner and a worker were standing on the top platform of scaffolding, working on roof trusses. The worker was wearing a fall-arrest harness but it wasn’t tied off; the owner wasn’t wearing any restraint at all. The owner told workers to roll the scaffolding over to the next truss while he and the worker remained on the platform. The scaffolding hit an extension cord as it was being moved and tipped over, causing the owner and worker to fall. The owner injured his shoulder, had face contusions and was knocked unconscious. The worker suffered a crushed ankle and a shoulder injury. The company pleaded guilty to moving scaffolding while workers were on it and was fined $7,000 [Black Eagle Construction (1999) Inc., Govt.
