Alberta Company Fined $120K for Mine Worker’s Fall Injuries

A worker fell about 20 feet after tripping on a footrest inside the cabin of a dragline excavator. He survived but suffered serious injuries. The mining company, which is based in Edmonton, pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a safe work system and working environment and was fined $120,000 [Prairie Mines & Royalty ULC, operating as Westmoreland Coal Company, Govt.
