AFE is short for Authorization for Expenditure, which is a budgeting document that’s used to get the OK for a particular expenditure. The AFE typically lists the operational and equipment costs associated with the expenditure for which the approval is sought. It’s therefore relevant in a subcontracting context to ensure subs have budgeted enough for safety. Hope that helps and sorry we didn’t define the term in our original Policy. Glenn
