Yes, but not in those words. Explanation: Class 1 and Division 2 refer to US OSHA PME use restrictions listing which kinds of equipment can be used in which locations based on a classification of the indoor or enclosed work area and the power source of the equipment. Thus, for example, certain gasoline powered forklifts can’t be used in Class I locations (containing flammable gases or vapors or where they may be present in the air in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures). Europe follows a similar system based on classification of zones in the workplace.
Many provinces incorporate some version of one of these systems in their Electrical and/or Fire Code. But Canadian OHS laws don’t. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can simply use PME wherever you want. It just means that the restrictions come from other parts of the OHS laws. Thus, for example, Sec. 5.27 of the BC OHS Reg requires elimination or control of ignition sources where flammable gases or liquids are handled, used or stored; it also specifies that ignition sources include spark-producing mechanical equipment, among other things. That plus the fact that you must also comply with Fire and Electrical Code standards.
    Hope that helps. Glenn
