WHO CAN PROVIDE WHMIS TRAINING: You must be qualified to provide WHMIS training. The CPO doesn’t have a list of approved trainers the way it does with the new Working At Heights and OHS Awareness Training–although the MOL does have partner health and safety associations that can provide WHMIS training or hook you up with another qualified trainer. https://www.labour.gov.on.ca/english/hs/websites.php
HOW WHMIS TRAINING CAN BE PROVIDED: WHMIS training can be done either in the classroom or online. In the latter case, the program typically generates a certification record after the trainee successfully completes the course.
Does that help’ If not, maybe you can post a follow up or contact me directly at glennd@bongarde.com
Good question. I searched high and low and can only conclude that there is no such definition. And it’s not just WHMIS. Unlike most other jurisdictions, Ontario doesn’t define “qualified” or even list required credentials for trainers in any of its OHS regulations–not even the new OHS Awareness/Fall Protection Certification Training Reg. It’s pretty frustrating and I’ll get back to you if I ever figure out what I may be missing. Thanks and sorry for the 4 day delay in responding. Glenn
We do cover this but in HR Insider, not so much OHS Insider. Are you an HR Insider user’ If so, let me know and I’ll hook you up. Glenn. glennd@bongarde.com if you want to reach me directly.
Me again. What I should have said is get back to me directly via Gmail regardless of whether you’re an HRI user. Just being an OHSI person is more than enough for me. It will be easier if you have access to HRI but I can still help you if you don’t. glennd@bongarde.com
