Biohazards

Biohazards in the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) context encompass biological agents or materials that pose risks to human health in the workplace. These hazards include infectious microorganisms, biological toxins, and other biological materials that can cause diseases or allergic reactions when exposed to humans. Occupational exposure to biohazards can occur in healthcare settings, laboratories, waste management, and other industries dealing with biological materials. OHS measures for biohazard management involve risk assessments, implementing proper handling and disposal procedures, providing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, masks, and gowns, training workers on proper protocols, and ensuring hygiene practices to minimize the risks of exposure and prevent the spread of infectious diseases or biological contaminants.
