Apr 6: WorkSafeBC issued revised guidelines on section 19.27(1)(b) of the OHS Regulations, which allows for specially trained workers to follow revised limits of approach to energized equipment in situations where rerouting, de-energizing, or guarding the equipment isn’t practicable. The guidelines explain when such situations would be considered to exist.

Dec 1: The MOL issued a new hazard alert warning health care facilities that fires can occur when the contents of IV bags get into electrical outlets. The risk is likely to occur when IV bags that are hung near outlets develop leaks allowing the fluid to drip out.
