Worker Safety Training & Education Policy

BENEFIT

Required safety training varies depending on position, workplace and hazards to which a worker is exposed. Accordingly, appropriate training should be listed in policies and procedures specifically addressing particular hazards, e.g., electrical, falls, noise, etc., and operations, e.g., confined space entry, lockout tagout, etc. However, an OHS Program should also set out general standards and guidelines for all kinds of safety training to ensure that it is properly delivered, documented and verified for effectiveness.

HOW TO USE THIS TOOL

This Model Policy is based on BC requirements. But while it needs to be adapted based on the specific training requirements of your own jurisdiction, e.g., with respect to training of young and new workers, the approach of devising training profiles is a best practice followed in all parts of the country.
