Worker Breaks Bones in Fall from Unlocked Rolling Scaffold

A construction worker fell off scaffolding and broke his wrist, hip and ankle. He was one of only two construction workers working at the site of an expansion project’and both were only in their second week of work with the company. An investigation found that the rolling scaffold being used hadn’t been fitted with guardrails and the wheels weren’t locked. The construction company pleaded guilty to a safety violation and was fined $2,000 [C&D Construction, Govt. News Release, Sept. 14, 2016].
