INTRODUCTION: HOW TO USE THIS TOOL

The old-school WHMIS supplier label is on its way out. Starting Sept. 1, 2018, supplier labels provided by suppliers of hazardous products must comply with the new GHS label requirements. And by Dec. 1, 2018, employers must ensure that all containers of hazardous chemicals in the workplace have compliant labels. One of the ways the supplier label is changing is with regard to the pictograms which use the Hazard Symbol associated with the hazardous product’s product class within a red square set on one of its points, as illustrated below.
