Two Companies Fined for Unrelated OHS Violations

Two companies were fined for OHS violations:

  • A worker was seriously injured when steel rods being transferred from one trailer to another slid from the equipment and fell on top of him. The employer pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that only trained operators are required or permitted to operate powered mobile equipment and was fined $78,575 [Apex Distribution Inc., Govt.   • A worker was injured in a nail gun incident and taken to the hospital. As a result, a construction company pleaded guilty to failing to give notice to the division as soon as is reasonably possible of required incidents and was fined $1,200 [SJLL Construction Ltd., Govt. News Release, Dec. 14, 2016].
