Two Companies Fined for Fall Protection & Other Violations in Separate Incidents

A worker was seen working on a residential roof without wearing fall protection and not connected to an anchor point. The employer pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system at a work area where a worker may fall three metres or more and was fined $840. In a separate incident, two workers were observed working on the roof of an apartment building while not in compliance with PPE and other requirements. The employer pleaded guilty to three OHS violations, including failing to ensure that workers use a fall protection system where required, to use appropriate protective headwear and to ensure that a ladder in use by workers was secured against accidental movement.
