Oct. 24: As expected, workplace drug use was discussed during the GNWT’s recent public review on implementing legalized cannabis within the Territories. Of the 626 people to weigh in on the issue:
- 365 said that existing drugs and alcohol rules will be fine for cannabis
- 115 said that only legally prescribed medical cannabis should be allowed in the workplace
- 71 said that cannabis should never be allowed in the workplace
- 75 said cannabis should be treated like tobacco.
Oct. 25: The WSCC ended public review on proposed changes to its coverage rules for post-traumatic stress and other psychiatric and psychological disorders. Under current policy (Policy 03.09), which hasn’t changed since 2003, disorders caused by mental stress are covered only if they’re in response to a single sudden and unexpected traumatic event or series of traumatic events at work.
