March 11: Newly tabled Bill 12 would double the maximum penalty for a Manitoba Workplace Safety and Health Act violation to $500K and $1 million for second and subsequent offence. Other proposed changes:
- Elimination of the chief prevention officer position
- Six-month limit on discriminatory action (now known as reprisal) claims
- Allow for dismissal of frivolous or vexatious appeals of safety and health officer orders.
