Overhead Crane Lift Calculation Form
Before you use this tool, you may want to read the further analysis presented here.
Which lifting device you should use to move a load depends largely on the size and weight of the materials to be moved. That’s because lifting devices have specified load capacities, which are the maximum amount they can safely lift. So it’s important that workers properly calculate the weight of the load that needs to be lifted.
HOW TO USE THE TOOL
Require the operators of lifting devices to use this form to calculate the weight of a lift by an overhead crane. If the total weight exceeds the crane’s rated load capacity, make sure they either modify the load to decrease its weight or use a different lifting device that can safely lift a load that size. (You can adapt this form for other types of lifting devices.)
