Supervisor and Construction Company Charged in Worker’s Death

A worker was cleaning up on the sixth floor of a building under construction when he fell from the edge and died from his injuries. As a result, the construction company was charged with OHS violations, including lack of fall protection, fall protection training and a safe work plan, and failing to ensure a chute or other safe method is used to lower rubbish or debris. A supervisor was also charged with lack of fall protection and failing to take every precaution to protect a worker’s health [Parkland Construction, Govt. News Release, Feb. 18, 2015].
