Supervisor and Company Fined for PPE Violations
During a routine inspection, an Occupational Health Officer saw a worker working from the forks of an all-terrain forklift while standing on oriented strand board. The officer also saw two other workers working without head protection. The construction company was fined $1,680 for failing to ensure that workers wear approved industrial protective headwear and to require a worker to use a personal fall arrest system while working from an elevated platform. In addition, a supervisor pleaded guilty to failing to ensure that a worker under his direction complied with the OHS laws and was fined $840 [Integral Construction and Shane Kilmer, Govt.
