March 7: Injuries to New & Young Workers on the Decline


According to WorkSafeBC’s Effectiveness Measures Report for the fourth quarter of 2011, injuries to new and young workers have been reduced since changes were made to the OHS Regulation in Jan. 2007 to require employers to provide all young or new workers with a safety orientation and training. From 2008 to 2009, there was a 28% decrease in injuries to young workers; from 2009 to 2010, the injury rate decreased by 12% for young males and 8% for young female workers.
