Jan. 1, 2015: Personal Optional Protection to Increase

WorkSafeBC’s Personal Optional Protection is an insurance plan for individuals who aren’t automatically covered by the Workers Compensation Act. On Jan. 1, 2015, the minimum monthly coverage of such protection will increase from $1,500 to $1,800 to align with the province’s current minimum wage. Personal Optional Protection customers will automatically be transitioned to the new $1,800 monthly minimum starting next year. The new application form with updated coverage amounts will be available online on Jan. 1, 2015.
