BENEFITS
It’s common for workers to lift, carry, move or otherwise handle various materials by hand as part of their job duties. But manual materials handling can put workers at risk of developing musculoskeletal injuries (MSIs), such as back strains. And the OHS regulations require employers to protect workers from such injuries.

HOW TO USE THE TOOL

Adapt this handout for your operations, OHS program and the requirements in your jurisdiction’s OHS laws. Give this handout to workers as part of a safety talk to educate them on how to lift and move materials safely.
