April 1: Regulation on Duties of Adviser Offices Took Effect

Effective April 1, 2012, a new OHS regulation sets out the functions of the Office of the Worker Adviser (OWA) and the Office of the Employer Adviser (OEA) as to reprisals under Sec. 50 of the OHS Act:

  • The OWA’s functions: educate, advise and represent non-unionized workers as to reprisals and reprisal complaints and referrals made to the OLRB; and
  • The OEA’s functions: educate, advise and represent employers with fewer than 50 employees as to reprisal complaints and referrals to the OLRB.
