An OHS review of worker records following an unrelated worker injury found that several workers had potentially been working in areas of a building where asbestos was present, although it wasn’t clear if they’d actually been exposed to asbestos. The building owner pleaded guilty to violating Sec.3(3) of the OHS Act. The court fined it $5,000 and ordered it to pay $30,000 to the Alberta Workers’ Health Centre [Eco-Industrial Business Park Inc., Govt. News Release, March 8, 2011].
