July 18: Lawsuit Filed Against CFL on Concussion Issues

Receiver Arland Bruce filed a lawsuit against the CFL, all the teams and the commissioner, claiming they failed to protect him from the adverse effects of a concussion. The suit also alleges that the CFL failed to provide adequate care for him and misrepresented the dangers that he faced in returning to action, even though it knew or should’ve known that repeat blows to the head can lead to long-term brain injury. Lastly, Bruce claims the CFL withheld important information from players and failed to make a special helmet mandatory or available throughout the league.
