Traffic accidents kill 20 child passengers and injure more than 2,100 every year. So throughout June, the BCAA Traffic Safety Foundation is conducting an information blitz to remind parents and caregivers of key laws aimed at keeping children safe:
- Infants must be in rear-facing infant seats that aren’t placed in front of an active frontal air bag, until the baby is at least one year old and nine kg
- Children over one year old and between nine and 18 kg must be seated in a child car seat
- All children over nine kg must be in a booster seat until they are 1.45 metres tall or nine years old.
