June 11: Drivers Seem to Be Hanging up Cell Phones

According to a University of Victoria study, motorists in the capital region appear to be getting the message about distracted driving. In February of 2009, out of 8,000 vehicles observed at 40 sites around the city, 350 drivers were seen talking on cell phones. But this April—after the new cell phone law took effect in January—only 75 drivers were seen engaging in this dangerous activity.
