The government had announced that amendments to the OHS Act would take effect on Sept. 3, 2012. During information sessions on these amendments, the Ministry received a variety of comments and concerns. So it announced that it won’t be moving forward with the amendments until it’s able to address the following primary areas of concern:
- Issuing of summary offence tickets
- Requirement to designate a prime contractor to coordinate safety on sites with multiple employers or self-employed persons
- Increase in penalties.
