The government introduced a bill that would ban not only the use of cell phones while driving but also other distractions. Bill 16, the Traffic Safety (Distracted Driving) Amendment Act, 2010, proposes a ban on the use of hand-held cell phones and activities such as texting, reading, writing and personal grooming while driving. It also limits the use of other electronic devices. The legislature will debate the bill this fall.
