Oct. 7: CBC Report: 75% of Freight Train Operators Admit Falling Asleep

The CBC released an investigative report on safety in the rail industry. The report found that chronic exhaustion is one of the biggest issues in the industry, including train operators falling asleep at the controls and workers coming into work exhausted. Interviewed workers said the problem went beyond long shifts or being expected to sleep in their off-time on makeshift beds far from home.
