March 4: 30 New OHS Inspectors to Be Hired

The government announced that 30 new OHS officers will be hired over the next three years. By 2014, the province will have 132 OHS officers, a 55% increase from the 86 officers in early 2010. In addition, OHS enforcement, inspections and investigations will be divided into three regions instead of two, with a greater focus in northern Alberta—the site of major economic activity, particularly in the oil and gas, and construction sectors.
