June 3: Paper Mill Fights Ruling on Random Alcohol Tests

A pulp and paper mill in Saint John had a policy of randomly testing workers for alcohol. The union filed a grievance challenging the policy and won in arbitration. But the mill is appealing to a court. It says the policy is designed to discourage workers from drinking on the job and to promote a safer workplace. (We’ll follow this case and let you know how the court rules.)
