April 21: Farm Injury Statistics for 2014 Released


Alberta’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner confirmed that it investigated 25 deaths related to agriculture in 2014. Highlights:

  • 20 of the fatalities involved owners, operators, owners’ family members or employees of the farms, while three were visitors to the farms
  • Nine of the fatalities were machinery-related
  • Animal-related deaths, falls from heights and crushes by hay bales each accounted for three deaths.
